What to do if your flight is delayed
What to do if your flight is delayed More often than not, our flights go without a hitch â" we arrive at the airport, go through security, wait to board, and then take off to our destination at the anticipated time. However, if your flight is delayed, it can be stressful, frustrating, and inconvenient. Hereâs everything you need to know about your easyjet flight delay⦠Easyjetâs terms and conditions According to easyjetâs terms and conditions, youâll be entitled to the following in the event that your flight is delayed: Flights up to 1500km Easyjet will provide refreshment vouchers for every 2 hours your flight is delayed. In the event that they are unable to provide you with vouchers, they will reimburse you £3 or â¬4.50 in non-UK airports per person, for every 2 hours delayed. Youâll need to provide the relevant receipts and alcohol cannot be claimed for. After a 2-hour delay, youâre also entitled to 2emails, phone calls, or fax messages. Flights over 1500km For delayed flights over 1500km, easyjet will provide you with refreshment vouchers for every 3 hours of your delay. If they arenât able to provide vouchers, they will reimburse you £3 or â¬4.50 in non-UK airports per person, for every 2 hours delayed. Again, youâll need to provide the relevant receipts and alcohol cannot be claimed for. After a 3-hour delay you are also entitled to 2 emails, phone calls or fax messages. Delays over 5 hours If your easyjet flight is delayed for longer than 5 hours, you can opt to cancel your flight and receive a full refund, or ask for the airline to rearrange your flight for a later date. Overnight delays Accommodation If your flight is delayed overnight, easyjet will arrange overnight accommodation. However, they do state that, in the event they are unable to do so, they will ask you to book your own accommodation and then they will reimburse you. The airlineâs terms and conditions state that they are happy to cover clean, comfortable, mid-range overnight accommodation in hotel brands such as Premier Inn, Ibis, Holiday Inn, Travelodge and Motel-One, who typically charge up to £85 per night. If you chose to spend more than this when these types of hotels are available, they will not reimburse you the difference. Food Easyjet will arrange for the hotel to provide you with an evening meal (excluding alcohol) as well as breakfast. If youâve been asked to find your own hotel, they will reimburse you up to £25 per person per day to cover food and drink. Make sure you keep your receipts! Travel The easyjet ground crew or the hotel will provide transport between the hotel and the airport. In the event that the airline is not able to provide this service, their TCs state that they will cover taxis, buses, or local metro services to and from the airport. They will not, however, cover unreasonable travel costs such as limos! Again, make sure you keep all of your receipts. Communication Easyjet states that it will reimburse you for the cost of up to two phone calls to allow you to rearrange your travel plans. Making your claim When it comes to making your claim, you have two options. You can either contact the airline directly and submit your claim to them, along with any supporting evidence such as receipts, tickets, etc. Alternatively, you can use a company such as Flight Delay Claims 4 U, who will make the claim for you on a no win, no fee basis, saving you the hassle!
